Restrictions

Quick reference:

  • Only items referred to as editable in these guidelines may be altered. No other changes to the template are allowed without YSM and ITS-WS assistance.

To promote consistency across all YSM sites using the Web template and to help YSM organizations effectively implement the template on their sites, YSM-IPC and ITS-WS have developed the following use restrictions. These restrictions are not meant to hamper creativity, but we do ask that you work with YSM-IPC and ITS-WS to develop solutions to perceived problems with the template before trying to implement your own solution. We are here to help!

Logos

A site owner’s logo or shield can be used in the middle column or the right column. It may not be used in the header, footer, or left navigation column.

Framework

The framework is not editable and under no circumstance should it be edited. By signing the Work Plan provided, your organization agrees to follow all guidelines for the templates.

Use of the template

No organization may use an external Web development group to build out a site with the YSM templates, unless the outside company signs the work plan and agrees to build the site following YSM template guidelines. The templates are to be used by Web managers who are employees of the University, representing the organization at Yale that employs him or her, or ITS-WS. Please note, only organizations working through YSM-IPC and ITS-WS are permitted to use the YSM templates.

ITS-WS and YSM-IPC reserve the right to review sites using the templates, provide feedback for adjustment and adjust them if necessary. In addition, YSM reserves the right to turn off a templated site until it has been corrected.

Contact ITS-WS (Kimberly Pasko) or the YSM Office of Institutional Planning & Communications (Lena Parker or Justin Fansler) with any questions.
