Patient Placement/Cohorting
Place the patient on Contact Precautions in a private room.

When a private room is not available, the patient may be placed in a room with a patient(s) who has MRSA, but no other infection or colonization with a different multiple-antibiotic-resistant organism (i.e., VRE).

If a private room is unavailable and cohorting cannot be accomplished, then call Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Control for consultation at 8-4634.
