Standard/Contact Precautions*

Cryptosporidiosis requires Standard Precautions * but requires the use of Contact Precautions for diapered or incontinent patients including children under 6 years of age.

Contact Precautions:

• Private Room
• Don and remove gown and gloves upon entering and exiting patient's room.
• Wash hands after removal of gown/gloves.
• Dedicate non-critical patient care equipment.

Duration of Precautions: Duration of illness

Cryptosporidiosis is a Category 2 reportable disease. Report by mail within 12 hours of recognition or strong suspicion to both local and State Health Departments:
