Standard Precautions

Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) requires Standard Precautions.

Notify YNHH Epidemiology and Infection Control immediately at 8-4634 for specific instructions if the patient is scheduled to undergo any operative procedures.

Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease in individuals under 55 years of age is a Category 2 reportable disease. Report by mail within 12 hours of recognition or strong suspicion to the local and State Health Departments:
