Standard Precautions

Burkholderia cepacia in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients (including respiratory tract colonization) requires Standard Precautions.

Avoid cohorting or placement in the same room with another CF patient who is not infected or colonized with B. cepacia. Persons with CF who visit or provide care and who are not infected or colonized with B. cepacia may elect to wear a mask when within 3 ft. of a colonized patient.
