Standard Precautions
Brucellosis (undulant, Malta, or Mediterranean Fever) requires Standard Precautions.
This disease may be indicator of possible bioterrorism.
Brucellosis is a Category 1 reportable disease. Report immediately by telephone on the day of recognition or strong suspicion of disease. Reports should be made to the:
- Connecticut Epidemiology Program (860) 509-7994
- Local health department in which the patient resides
To initiate reporting, notify YNHH Epidemiology and Infection Control at 8-4634.
