Standard Precautions
Anthrax - Cutaneous requires Standard Precautions.
Anthrax may be a disease indicating possible bioterrorism. Notify the YNHH Epidemiology and Infection Control Department immediately at 8-4634 for specific instructions for a suspected case.
Cutaneous anthrax is a Category 1 reportable disease. Report immediately by telephone on the day of recognition or strong suspicion of disease. Reports should be made to the:
- Connecticut Epidemiology Program (860) 509-7994
- local health department in which the patient resides
To initiate reporting, notify YNHH Department of Epidemiology and Infection Control at 8-4634.
