Standard/Contact Precautions*

Adenovirus gastroenteritis requires Standard Precautions *but requires the use of Contact Precautions in diapered or incontinent patients including children under 6 years of age.

Contact Precautions:

• Private Room
• Don and remove gown and gloves upon entering and exiting patient's room.
• Wash hands after removal of gown/gloves.
• Dedicate non-critical patient care equipment.

Duration of Precautions: Duration of illness
