Art Place at the Yale Physician's Building
Yale Medical Group Art Place is an award-winning program created, sponsored, and managed by Yale Medical Group (YMG), the multi-specialty group practice of the Yale School of Medicine’s clinical faculty. Art Place is an ongoing art exhibition, which at first focused on presenting original work from artists within the Yale and New Haven communities, but expanded to accept works from the rest of Connecticut and surrounding areas as well. Since its inception, Art Place has exhibited the works of over 50 artists in 10 different media, and the once-barren corridors and waiting rooms of the Yale Physicians Building have come alive with color and texture. The Art Place team, made up of YMG members, understands and appreciates the wonderful ability art has to heal and restore, and through great effort the team has achieved its goal of enriching the patients’ experience as they seek medical care. Patients and family members have lauded the program, expressing appreciation for the art on display and gratitude for the enjoyment and comfort it brings during difficult times. In addition, physicians and staff have developed a great pride in their building and an interest in maintaining the healthy environment.
