Dr.Southwick poses to demostrate how he created "Safe on Third"

Wayne O. Southwick, M.D. Professor Emeritus, was Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Yale from 1958 to 1979 and continues to work part time. Dr. Southwick began studing sculpture at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in 1979 under Elisabeth Gordon Chandler, Laci De Gerunday, Michael Lantz and Donal Gale. He also studied under Bruno Lucchesi with whom he began working in terra cotta and bronze. In His work "Safe on Third" was made at the Fonderia d'Arte del Chairo Massimo, Pietrasanta, Italy. The Artist celebrates the growing strengh of women and minorities in sports.
