Rodent Transportation Guidelines

Internal Transport (through corridors)

  • Secure the cage
    • secure the cage top to prevent escape
    • cover all cages with a disposable paper cover prevent viewing avoid patient areas, public elevators, etc.

External transport (through corridors and public street)

  • Secure the cage
    • secure the cage top to prevent escape
    • place a wide rubber band around the cage to prevent if the cage is dropped
  • Use a transport carrier
    • special carriers may be purchased or a clean cardboard box may be used
    • prevent public viewing of animals(s)
    • protect the animal(s) from environmental conditions

Report escapees immediately to YARC (785-2526)
