The production of transgenic and knock-out mice has expanded so rapidly that there are many investigators now breeding their own animals that have never done so before. Many of these animals are not available commercially or are in scarce supply therefore creating the need for investigators to establish their own colonies.

The YARC Breeding Service offers a spectrum of assistance from setting up of breeders, weaning, record keeping, colony maintenance, identification and technical aid to total management of a colony. This fee-for-service service can be tailored to your needs. You will be continuously updated on the status of your colony. More Information.

Consultation is also available on breeding systems, estimating numbers of breeders required for production quotas, reproductive problems and health care issues. Investigators should contact the Rodent Service for information on how to set up a new colony, record keeping, determining causes of low productivity or any other questions they may have on rodent breeding in general.
