Monitoring of Animal Rooms, Equipment and Supplies
Sipper tubes for Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Only bottles from animal rooms designated as SPF are tested
- Frequency: every four months
- Sample numbers: 15 swabs per animal room
- Procedure: bottle is filled with non-chlorinated water at least 48h prior to
obtaining culture
Isolators after setting up or decontamination
Animal rooms following decontamination
- No testing required, unless specified
Autoclaves
- In all autoclaves sterilometer strips and autoclave tape are included in every autoclave
load
- Autoclaves on LEPH 8 and 9 are monitored weekly with spore strips
Rackwasher
- Temperature-tape is placed in the first rackwasher load of every day to ensure that
water temperature reaches 180ºF
