  • Dr. Carolyn Mazure has been invited by the firm of Wiggin and Dana Women's Network to talk about the complex field of women's health. The event, "Spotlight on Women's Health," will be held at the Quinnipiack Club in New Haven on Thursday, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m., May 29th, 2008. Presentation with Q&A, Cocktail Reception to follow.   • Karyn Frick, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychology at Yale University School of Medicine, will receive the 2008 Society for Women's Health Research Medtronic Prize for Scientific Contributions to Women's Health. Dr. Frick’s research focuses on aging, neuro-endocrinology, and memory in females. The Society for Women’s Health Research and the Medtronic Foundation have established an annual prize of $75,000 in recognition of a woman scientist or engineer for her contributions to women’s health.
  • Dr. Sherry McKee was invited to present Gender-Specific Approaches to Smoking Cessation at the Third International Congress on Women's Mental Health in Melbourne, Australia. Smoking is one the greatest causes of preventable illness for women throughout the world. Yet, as noted by the World Health Organization (2003), smoking rates for adult women continue to increase in certain parts of the world (e.g., Western Pacific, South-East Asia), and adolescent females are increasing their rates of smoking worldwide (CDC, 2003).
  • Dr. Cynthia Neill Epperson to give talk titled Women's Hormones, Mood and Memory: Myths and Realities, on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008, at Greenwich Hospital. For more information on Dr. Epperson's research, please visit the Yale Program for Women's Reproductive Behavioral Health.
  • Carolyn M. Mazure to Receive 2007 Marion Spencer Fay Award. This award honors a distinguished woman physician or scientist whose national leadership has made a major impact on research and the application of science to health care. View Press Release.
  • Dr. Carolyn M. Mazure was selected to join a panel of national health experts with extensive research and clinical experience to answer health related questions about antidepressants and pregnancy. The question and answer column produced by the National Women's Health Resource Center features topics that respond to women's health concerns. View Q&A Column.
