- CT Women’s Hall of Fame to Induct Dr. Carolyn M. Mazure. The Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame plans to honor Women’s Health Research at Yale Director Carolyn M. Mazure, Ph.D., at its annual induction ceremony and celebration in Hartford Oct. 29.
Dr. Mazure is one of three women in health care in the state that will be inducted into the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame during the evening event, which will be held at the Hartford Marriott Downtown.
Founded in 1993, the non-profit organization showcases the contributions that outstanding Connecticut women have made to their communities, the state and the nation. Dr. Mazure is to be honored as the visionary founder of Women’s Health Research at Yale.
- Women’s Health Research at Yale Director Dr. Carolyn M. Mazure will speak Tuesday, June 30, in Hartford at an evening event sponsored by the law firm Hinckley, Allen & Snyder. Dr. Mazure’s brief talk, part of WHRY’s Initiative for Community Wellness, will focus on some of the latest breakthroughs in women’s health research by our program investigators, and some of the research challenges on the horizon.
The event is scheduled for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Marquee, which is located in the former G. Fox building, 960 Main Street. View event details.
- Carolyn M. Mazure, Ph.D. receives the 2008 Distinguished Leadership Award from the American Psychological Association Committee on Women in Psychology. This award recognizes innovative research accomplishment and leadership that improve women's lives and advance health outcomes. View Press Release.
- On August 21, 2008, the Pilot Pen Tennis Tournament hosted Women’s Health Research at Yale for a “Day of Pilot Pen Tennis to benefit WHRY.” Our guests -- WHRY founding members and supporters from Connecticut and surrounding areas -- joined together to raise awareness regarding the importance of women’s health research. - Dr. Carolyn Mazure has been invited by the firm of Wiggin and Dana Women's Network to talk about the complex field of women's health. The event, "Spotlight on Women's Health," will be held at the Quinnipiack Club in New Haven on Thursday, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m., May 29th, 2008. Presentation with Q&A, Cocktail Reception to follow. - Karyn Frick, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychology at Yale University School of Medicine, will receive the 2008 Society for Women's Health Research Medtronic Prize for Scientific Contributions to Women's Health. Dr. Frick’s research focuses on aging, neuro-endocrinology, and memory in females. The Society for Women’s Health Research and the Medtronic Foundation have established an annual prize of $75,000 in recognition of a woman scientist or engineer for her contributions to women’s health.
- Dr. Sherry McKee was invited to present Gender-Specific Approaches to Smoking Cessation at the Third International Congress on Women's Mental Health in Melbourne, Australia. Smoking is one the greatest causes of preventable illness for women throughout the world. Yet, as noted by the World Health Organization (2003), smoking rates for adult women continue to increase in certain parts of the world (e.g., Western Pacific, South-East Asia), and adolescent females are increasing their rates of smoking worldwide (CDC, 2003).
- Dr. Cynthia Neill Epperson to give talk titled Women's Hormones, Mood and Memory: Myths and Realities, on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008, at Greenwich Hospital. For more information on Dr. Epperson's research, please visit the Yale Program for Women's Reproductive Behavioral Health.
- Carolyn M. Mazure Receives 2007 Marion Spencer Fay Award. This award honors a distinguished woman physician or scientist whose national leadership has made a major impact on research and the application of science to health care. View Press Release.
- Dr. Carolyn M. Mazure was selected to join a panel of national health experts with extensive research and clinical experience to answer health related questions about antidepressants and pregnancy.
