Epperson

Our affiliation with the Yale Program for Women's Reproductive Behavioral Health (WRBH) advances our work in understanding the interaction of hormones, mood, and cognition as each relate to the reproductive system and behavior.

WRBH conducts research and provides clinical consultation services to women experiencing mood-related changes prior to menstruation, during and after pregnancy, and during the menopause transition.  WRBH is operated jointly by Yale University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and the Connecticut Mental Health Center.

Director: Cynthia Neill Epperson, M.D., Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences.

Clinical Consultations:

WRBH is pleased to announce that two physicians, who are psychiatrists in training with Dr. Epperson, are available to provide consultations for women whose mental health issues are intertwined with their reproductive and/or hormonal status.  This includes women suffering from depression/anxiety either during pregnancy or after delivery, premenstrual depressed mood, or depression/anxiety during the menopause.

Drs. Ariadna Forray and Constance Guille will provide:

  • Consultations regarding the use of psychotropic medications during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Evaluations and support to pregnant women who have received the diagnosis of a fetal anomaly, have experienced pregnancy loss, or have suffered from emotional disturbances due to infertility treatment.
  • Consultations regarding severe premenstrual mood symptoms, also called premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).
  • Consultations regarding the onset of mood and anxiety symptoms during the menopause transition.

All patients seen in the Resident Consultation Clinic will be charged a sliding scale fee for their consultation.

Dr. Epperson, WRBH Director, supervises psychiatrists in training on all clinical cases.  Dr. Epperson is also available for private consultations on a fee-for-service basis.  Dr. Epperson is not paneled with any insurance companies, thus payment is due at the time of service.
