Our Impact
Women's Health Research at Yale
- Generates innovative interdisciplinary research examining women’s health and gender differences in health and disease, through our Pilot Project Program which has provided more than $4 million to fund 50 pilot studies in previously untargeted areas of women’s health.
- An outstanding 57% of the investigators who received pilot funds used their pilot data to obtain new external funding in order to pursue important new areas of study.
- Two-thirds of the funded researchers have been junior or mid-level faculty who needed initial funding to launch their research.
- Many studies have provided new data to address the most pressing health concerns for women today, including in the areas of heart disease, breast cancer, and smoking cessation.
- Integrates the study of gender into New Collaborative Grants with Key Research Partners in areas related to women and addiction, the neurobiology of gender difference, and reproductive behavioral health.
- Develops research training for the next generation through NIH Training Grants, and partners with the community in providing Educational Initiatives to insure the translation of research findings for practical application.
