The SLM 8000 Spectrofluoromter enables:
 

• steady-state fluorescence studies
• polarization and anisotropy measurements
• slow kinetics acquisitions
• real-time excitation and emission corrections


The instrument is photon counting spectrometer equipped with double grating excitation monochromator and single grating emission monochromator.  The instrument is computer-controlled and a short (~1 hour) training session is usually sufficient to gain basic skills to operate the instrument independently.  During the training session an acquisition method will be set-up that would be appropriate for the given problem that is being investigated.  Micro cells (100 microliter sample volume) are available for analysis of small samples (courtesy of  the laboratory of Dr. Radding).
