American Medical Women’s Association
The Yale chapter participates in national and regional conferences and sponsors campus activities.

Asian Americans
in Yale Medicine

Fosters faculty mentorship, raises issues of concern to Asian Americans in medicine, and provides services to New Haven’s Asian community.

Boricua Latino Health Organization
A support and advocacy group for Latino students.

Committee on the Well-Being of Students
Evaluates and works to improve the quality of student life at the School of Medicine.

Family Practice Interest
Group

Sponsors conferences and speakers on family practice and information on training opportunities for students interested in the field.

Jewish Medical Student Organization
Sponsors an annual Jewish Medical Ethics lecture series and holds casual gatherings on holidays and throughout the year.

Lambda Health Alliance
Brings together lesbian, gay, and bisexual students and professionals from a range of health fields for social events and political action.


Medical School Outdoor Orientation Trips
Organizes hikes, canoe trips, bicycle trips, and other outings, especially for orientation of first-year students.

Medical Student Council
The student government for Yale medical students.

Medical Students for Choice
Affiliated with a national organization, provides lectures, volunteer activities, and discussions.

Nathan Smith Club
Conducts lectures and discussions on topics in the history of medicine.

Physicians for Social Responsibility
Yale’s chapter sponsors lectures on environmental health issues, petition campaigns, and community events such as a nonviolent toy fair.

Second-Year Show
A fifty-year-old tradition, with high production values and a few low jabs at faculty, administrators, fellow students, and the world of medicine.

Student National Medical Association (SNMA)
The Yale chapter of this national support group for minority medical students works to recruit and retain African American, Latino, and Native American medical students.


The Ultrasounds
An a cappella group that performs for patients and staff at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Yale Biotech Student
Interest Group

Students from the School of Medicine, the Law School, and the School of Management publish an on-line newsletter, run a pro bono consulting firm, and hold job fairs, among other activities.

Yale Health Professionals Christian Fellowship
Meets weekly for worship and Bible study, and conducts service activities, singing groups, and personal ministry.

Yale Journal of
Biology and Medicine

The only scientific journal in the country that has medical and graduate students on its board of editors.

Yale Journal of Health
Policy, Law, and Ethics

A student-edited, peer-reviewed journal jointly sponsored by the Law School, the School of Medicine, and the School of Public Health.

Yale Student
Psychiatric Society

Sponsors discussions with Yale faculty and visitors on psychiatric and humanistic issues.
