Online tutorials can get you up and running on a computer application at the click of a finger. You can learn what you need to learn, when you need to learn it. And, after you’ve completed training, they can serve as an on-going reference guide.

Common Tasks (AV) Applications (AV) Read and Learn

How the AV tutorials work
Each tutorial is divided into small audiovisual segments, or "clips". These clips demonstrate exactly what the computer screen looks like when you are using that tool. A narrator guides you through each step, explaining what to do and what you will see on your computer screen.

Please note: the tutorials currently only use PC screens but the actual processes are virtually identical for Macs. Future updates will include Mac screens.

How to view an AV tutorial
AV clips are saved in AVI or RealVideo format. To open a clip, click on its link.

AVI clips are first downloaded to your computer, and can be played with WindowsMedia Player or QuickTime Player. The RealVideo clips stream in real time on the Yale network and require RealPlayer version 7 or higher on your computer. Click here to download the free RealPlayer Basic. Some AVI clips have been saved in ZIP format for faster downloads. These must be unzipped before playing.
