NIH Program Project Grant awarded to Department of Therapeutic Radiology
The NIH has awarded a new program project grant to the Department of Therapeutic Radiology at Yale, beginning in 2007. This initiative comes out of the Radiobiology & Radiotherapy Research Program of the Yale Cancer Center. The grant is entitled, "DNA Repair in Cancer Biology and Therapy", and will provide more than $10 million over 5 years to support basic and translational cancer research. The award recognizes the long standing leadership position of the Radiobiology Program at Yale in the area of DNA repair and in the development of related cancer therapies.
In 2007, the Department of Therapeutic Radiology at Yale was ranked at the very top of all medical school based radiation oncology programs in the United States for NIH funding. The department has 13 active RO-1 grants, a Program Project(PO-1) grant and a variety of other NIH funded grants/projects.
