8-MOP SAMPLE SUBMISSION DIRECTIONS

& FAQs

For accurate 8-MOP levels, please follow these instructions exactly.

1. Collect blood sample from patient ONLY.

2. Use a green-topped tube and centrifuge at 2000 rpm for 10 min.

3. Transfer the plasma fraction into a screw-top polypropylene tube.

Please label the tube clearly with name and time.

4. Send sample(s) with a COMPLETED sample submission form to the address shown below

(include room #). This form also serves as the report form and it is essential that it be completed

legibly.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is it necessary to send the specimen on ice? No.

2. Is it necessary to send it by an express service? No. How you send it is entirely at your discretion.

3. How long can a specimen be stored prior to analysis? In principle, indefinitely. However, please refrigerate (do not freeze) the sample and avoid prolonged exposure to light and heat.

4. What is the optimal time to draw a specimen for analysis? For oral ingestion the usual time is 2 hrs for crystalline 8-MOP and 1.5 hrs for oxsoralen ultra. However, keep in mind that individual patients can vary dramatically from specimen to specimen (manuscript in preparation).
