Ecology of Vector-borne Diseases
Postdoctoral Fellow Position

A postdoctoral position is available in the Division of Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases at the Yale School of Public Health to participate in research on the ecology and epidemiology of vector-borne diseases. Involvement in one or more of the following projects is expected: Spatial modeling of Lyme disease risk in the US and of West Nile virus in Connecticut; role of birds as reservoir hosts for West Nile virus and Borrelia burgdorferi; links between biodiversity and human health. All these projects involve a combination of field, laboratory work, mapping and mathematical modeling.

The successful candidate must be capable of working independently in an interdisciplinary environment and have writing skills evidenced by publication. Opportunities exist for collaboration with faculty at the Yale School of Medicine, Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Departments of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and Geology and Geophysics, and for participation in the Yale Center for EcoEpidemiology

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in ecology, epidemiology, entomology, microbiology or related fields. Strong skills are required in one or more of the following areas: Geographic information systems, landscape ecology, spatial genetics or dynamic population modeling of microbes, vectors, or vertebrate reservoir hosts.
