Residency Training Program
in Psychiatry
Facilities
There are three major departmental clinical facilities: Connecticut
Mental Health Center (CMHC), Veterans Administration Connecticut Healthcare
System (VACHS), Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH), and three affiliated
facilities, the Yale University Health Services (YUHS), the Yale Child
Study Center (CSC), and the Hospital of St. Raphael (HSR).
The administrative offices of the Department of Psychiatry are located
in the Yale-New Haven Medical Center complex along with the Yale-New
Haven Hospital and the Connecticut Mental Health Center. The Medical
Center complex is located a short walk from the main Yale University
Campus. Also in the Medical Center complex is the Yale Child Study Center,
an administratively separate but affiliated Training Program which provides
child psychiatry training for residents in the adult residency.
In the heart of the Yale University Campus is the Division of Mental
Hygiene of the University Health Services, another major training site
for advanced residents. Collaborative training programs involving other
departments of the Medical School and University include: Biological
Sciences and Psychiatry, Epidemiology and Public Health, Social and Community
Psychiatry, Psychiatry and Law, Administrative Psychiatry, Neurology,
History of Science and Medicine and others.
