The Obesity Crisis: Psychiatry Weighs In

By now I hope you have received the Save-the Date card about our October 3rd Alumni Program: The Obesity Crisis: Psychiatry Weighs In. On-line registration is available now at www.cme.yale.edu. I hope you’ll take a few minutes from your busy day to register now. Make sure that you don’t miss out – there are only 150 seats in the venue.

This full day conference will convene multi-specialty leaders in psychiatric research in order to influence the direction of future research in obesity as it relates to psychiatry, child psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, addiction psychiatry and psychotherapeutics. Special attention is given to evidence for gender differences in obesity research, and the global perspectives regarding the impact of the nutrition transition -- over nutrition eclipsing undernutrition globally -- and the obesity crisis in America.

The conference will unfold in a life-cycle approach, reviewing the psychiatric co-morbidity of obesity in children and adults. All conference plenary and interactive sessions will aim to link obesity to psychiatric morbidity and need for psychotherapeutic interventions. Speakers from the plenary sessions will lead interactive sessions with small groups of audience members in the afternoon to foster scientific dialogue.
