Research ClinicsYale Depression Research Program | Genes Related to Depression The Use of Riluzole in the Treatment of Refractory Depression Recent studies in our clinic and at the National Institutes of Mental Health suggest that the medication Riluzole (Rilutek®) has antidepressant properties. Individuals who are currently taking antidepressant medications but still experience symptoms of depression may be helped by the addition of Riluzole to their existing medications. Subjects in this study will receive 12 weeks of treatment with Riluzole during which time changes in symptoms will be periodically assessed. Subjects will be closely monitored by a staff psychiatrist throughout the study. If clinically indicated, an inpatient level of care is available on the Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit of Connecticut Mental Health Center during the course of this study. Last modified:
