Neuroscience Research
Training Program in Psychiatry
PG1 Year:
The Internship Year: Fundamentals of
Patient Care
In a general medical setting, the clinical neuroscientist/psychiatrist-in-training
learns to:
- Formulate a differential diagnosis based on
- thorough history
- expert physical, neurological, and mental status exams
- appropriate laboratory evaluations and
- Implement a course of treatment based on an understanding of the pathophysiology
of the disorder.

Applicants may also customize a separate one-year medical, surgical,
or pediatric internship at a non-affiliated hospital of the applicant's
choice. The applicant then enters the Program as a PG-2 NRTP resident
after this internship year and, if necessary, completes a two-month neurology
experience during the residency.
