Yale Pediatric Fellows Sweep Awards at Pediatric Academic Societies

The Pediatric Academic Societies, the national forum for pediatric research, makes awards for Fellows’ Basic Research and for Fellows’ Clinical Research. In the 2009 competition, Yale neonatology fellow Laurie Steiner won the basic research award for her studies of the ankyrin gene (Pat Gallagher, mentor), and Yale infectious diseases fellow Sachin Desai won the clinical research award for his analysis of the effectiveness of rotavirus vaccine (Marietta Vazquez, mentor). In addition, Yale renal fellow Cynthia d’Alessandri won the research award from the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology. Awards will be presented at the national meetings in Baltimore in May 2009.
