General Pediatrics
Education
Our faculty teaches general pediatrics to residents and medical students in
the Primary Care Clinic of the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital, but we
also enjoy teaching in our specific areas of clinical interest. Teaching
activities include one-on-one interactions, small group conferences, Core
Resident Teaching Conferences, and Grand Rounds at Yale and at affiliated
hospitals. The Adopt-A-Doc
Program places residents and interns in patient homes in underserved
communities. The Pediatric Medical
Student Clerkship is directed by our faculty.
We give invited lectures both nationally and internationally on pediatric rheumatology, Lyme disease, child abuse, child sexual abuse, well-born and sick neonates, efficacy of vaccines, international child health, and international child adoption. One faculty is a director of the Program in Investigative Medicine. Another faculty member, as Associate Director for Education of the Yale Center for Medical Informatics, is developing computer-based decision support for management of asthma and other illnesses, and implementation of the Electronic Medical Record in pediatric care.
General Pediatrics offers a three-year, federally funded training program in
Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. Please
