Yale Pediatric Update 2004 - Curriculum
May 21 & 22, 2004

Learning Objectives

This course is designed to provide pediatricians and advanced care pediatric professionals with the latest clinical developments in Pediatrics and the Pediatric Subspecialties. Plenary sessions will focus on advances in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric disease and issues that affect the well being and health of children and adolescents. Breakout Workshops will foster discussion of best clinical practices and allow the participant to discuss clinical cases with our faculty. This course reflects the ongoing commitment of the Yale School of Medicine, Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital and Yale University's Department of Pediatrics to advance the educational development of medical professionals who serve children.

At the end of the conference, all participants should be able to:

•   Review the clinical and social issues that lead to the increased incidence
    of obesity and diabetes in children
•   Assess up-to-date information for pediatric care using interactive
    web-based databases
•   Interpret new information with regard to antibiotics, infections,
    dermatologic problems and surgical problems in children
•   Discuss the relevant issues faced by adolescents and children with
    multiple handicaps
•   Understand the common endocrinologic issues encountered in a
    pediatric office
•   Evaluate and treat acute sports injuries
