Yale Pediatric Update 2003 - Curriculum June 13 & 14, 2003
Learning Objectives
This course is designed to provide pediatricians and advanced care pediatric professionals with state-of-the-art speakers addressing the latest developments in Pediatrics and the Pediatric Subspecialties. Plenary sessions will focus on advances in diagnosis and treatment of commonly encountered issues in developmental/behavioral pediatrics. Interactive break-out sessions will foster discussion of best clinical practices, provide updates in common and relevant clinical problems for the practitioner, and address issues of child advocacy and parenting. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss clinical cases and questions with the faculty in a variety of venues. This course reflects the ongoing commitment of Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital and Yale University's Department of Pediatrics to advance the educational development of medical professionals who serve children.
At the end of the conference, all participants should be able to:
-   Discuss "overcoming dyslexia and autism"
-   Analyze and discuss developmental issues in adopted children;
  supporting children in times of crisis; behavior management in children   with ADHD; novel therapies in the management of asthma; minimally   invasive pediatric surgery; and common GI problems in children
-   Summarize sports screening, syncope and chest pain in children
-   Discuss difficult behaviors and promoting positive parenting
-   Discuss the differential diagnosis of the acute abdomen
-   Diagnose minor trauma and ingestions as an office-based approach
