Dr. Pettker graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University (1995) and subsequently gained experience in teaching at Eton College in England under an Annenberg Fellowship. He received his medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons (2000) and completed his Ob/Gyn residency at New York–Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia University) (2004). Following this, he joined Yale as a fellow in Maternal–Fetal Medicine (2007) and is now on the faculty as an Assistant Professor.
Research
Dr. Pettker’s research interests relate to clinical and outcomes–based research, particularly in labor and delivery. With Dr. Edmund Funai, he has worked on developing and studying the comprehensive patient safety program at Yale, which has demonstrated significant improvements in obstetrical adverse outcome rates. His work continues to focus on patient safety efforts as well as risk/adverse outcome perception in obstetrics.
He also has contributed to the Section’s research in prematurity and preterm birth, particularly with respect to inflammation and infection.
Clinical
Dr. Pettker’s clinical interests include the management of labor and delivery as well as ultrasound, genetics and prenatal diagnosis.
