Deaths attributed to septicemia decreased to a total of 17 deaths in 1994. This total was significantly lower than the 1993 total of 27 deaths. The resident death rate for septicemia decreased to 13.0/100,000 in 1994. Septicemia was ranked the 8th leading cause of death in 1993. Resident males had a higher death rate of 16.3/100,000 than females who had a death rate of 10.1/100,000 for septicemia. Residents who were 65 years of age and older accounted for 41% of all deaths caused by septicemia.
