A total of 31 resident deaths due to homicide occurred in 1994. The 1994 crude death rate from homicides was 23.8/100,000 increasing from the 1993 crude death rate of 16.8/100,000. The death rate for nonwhite residents was higher than that of white residents. The nonwhite death rate was 34.8/100,000 whereas the white death rate was 14.2/100,000. Male residents accounted for 70% of the homicidal deaths and had a death rate of 35.8/100,000. There were 9 female homicidal deaths recorded in 1994, making the female homicidal death rate 13.0/100,000.
