There were a total of 58 accidental deaths to New Haven residents in 1994. White residents had a slightly higher incidence of accidental deaths than nonwhite residents in 1994. The accidental death rate was 49.8/100,000 for white residents and 38.2/100,000 for nonwhite residents.

Motor Vehicle Accidents (E810-E819)

A total of 17 deaths to New Haven Residents as a result of motor vehicle accidents were recorded in 1994. Deaths due to motor vehicle accidents increased from the 1993 total of 14 resident deaths. The death rate for motor vehicle accidents increased from 10.7/100,000 in 1993 to 13.0/100,000 in 1994.
