Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) was ranked as the fourth leading cause of death. This is the eighth year AIDS ranked in the ten leading causes of death and the fourth year AIDS ranked as the fourth or fifth leading cause of d eath. There was a total of 69 resident deaths in which AIDS was listed as the primary cause of death Nonwhite residents had a significantly higher death rate of 81.3/100,000 compared to white residents with a crude death rate of 28.4/100,000. Males accoun ted for 68.% and females accounted for only 32% of AIDS deaths in 1993. In 1992 males accounted for 70% while females accounted for only 30% of AIDS deaths. Female death rates have increased while male death rates decreased in 1993.
