The number of deaths caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was the same as deaths caused by accidents in 1990. Ranked as the seventh leading cause of death with a total of 35 resident deaths. This number increased from the 1989 total of 33 deaths, which occurred as a result of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The percentage of total deaths increased slightly from 2.4% in 1989 to 2.9% in 1990. White residents accounted for 2.5% of deaths and had a crude death rate of 44.1/100,000. Nonwhite residents had considerably lower figures with a total of 4 nonwhite resident deaths and death rate of 6.6/100,000.
