There were a total of 35 accidental deaths to New Haven Residents in 1990, showing a decrease from the 1989 total of 45. White residents had a higher incidence of accidental deaths than nonwhite residents in 1990. The accidental death rate was 35.6/100,000 for white residents and 16.6/100,000 for nonwhite residents.

Motor Vehicle Accidents (810-819)

A total of 15 deaths to New Haven Residents as a result of motor vehicle accidents were recorded in 1990. Deaths due to motor vehicle accidents decreased from the 1989 total of 24 resident deaths. The death rate for motor vehicle accidents decreased from 19.0/100,000 in 1989 to 11.5/100,000 in 1990.
