Pneumonia deaths increased slightly in 1989 with a total of 52 deaths. In 1988 there were 50 deaths caused by pneumonia and the death rate was 39.7/100,000. In 1989 the death rate increased slightly to 41.2/100,000.

April recorded the highest average number of deaths due to pneumonia in the 1985 - 1989 period, with 7.4 average deaths for the five year period. May had the second highest average with 5.6. In 1989, the month of December had the highest reported number of deaths due to pneumonia.
