A total of 29 resident deaths due to homicide occurred in 1989. The crude death rate from homicides was 22.2/100,000. The death rate for nonwhite residents was higher than that of white residents. The nonwhite death rate was 45.7/100,000 whereas the white death rate was 7.7/100,000. Male residents accounted for 89% of the homicidal deaths, and had a death rate of 43.6/100,000. There were 3 female homicidal deaths recorded in 1989, making the female homicidal death rate 4.3/100,000.
