Outpatient and Inpatient Facilities

The inpatient facilities at Y-NHH consist of a 10-bed neuro-intensive care unit and a 30-bed neurology and neurosurgery floor for adults. The floor also contains a six-bed epilepsy-monitoring unit. Children are managed on age appropriate pediatric units. There is a 12-bed pediatric intensive care unit along with a 50-bed newborn special care unit. There is an additional epilepsy monitoring bed in the pediatric research unit. The WHVAMC has a joint neurologic and neurosurgical patient care unit. Critically ill patients are managed jointly with the ICU staff in the Surgical ICU.

Outpatient facilities consist of the separate, but connected, Faculty Practice Plan building where patients are seen by neurosurgery faculty on a daily basis. Pediatric patients are seen in the Pediatric Specialty Center in the Children’s Hospital two days per week. The outpatient facility at WHVAMC consists of a large multidisciplinary clinic area where neurosurgery patients are seen one afternoon per week. As noted, the junior resident, senior assistant resident, and senior resident each spend one clinic session per week with outpatients.
