Biographical Sketch

Dr. Marisa Spann holds the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery, Section of Neuropsychology at Yale School of Medicine. She has been part of the department in different capacities since 2005. Dr. Spann received her bachelor's degree in psychology from The College of William & Mary where she graduated with honors. She went on to receive her masters and doctorate degrees from George Washington University with a specialty in Clinical Psychology and subspecialties in Clinical Neuropsychology and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Dr. Spann’s additional subspecialty training in Clinical Neuropsychology was completed on internship at the University of Minnesota Medical School and postdoctoral fellowship at the Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery. Following completion of her training she joined the faculty of Yale.

Clinical Involvement

Dr. Spann is part of the neuropsychology clinical practice at Temple Medical Building where she evaluates children with neurological diseases and developmental disabilities. She is also a team member of the Yale Epilepsy Program and the Yale Pediatric Oncology Program. In addition, Dr. Spann is involved in contracted evaluations through local schools and legal practices for neuro-psycho-educational evaluations and Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE). She has experience evaluating children with adoption histories, be it international or within the United States.

  • Neuropsychological sequelae associated with chemotherapy treatment in childhood cancers
