Figure 25b.  In this demonstration, adaptation to dynamic noise "static" in the background followed by a sudden cessation of this noise, results in the appearance of "jitter" or motion in the center.  Presumably, this effect results from a combined effect of fill-in and adaptation, resulting in the appearance of jitter within the portions of the visual scene, even when they are static.
