Application Process

AMCAS Application

The Yale University School of Medicine participates in the "common" application process of the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). All applicants must submit an AMCAS application, indicating in the application that they wish to apply to the Yale University School of Medicine. The AMCAS application deadline for Yale is October 15 for M.D.-Ph.D. applicants. The M.D.-Ph.D. Program considers applications from U.S. citizens and Permanent Residents of the USA.

Yale Supplemental Application

The Yale School of Medicine does not ''screen'' AMCAS applications. All applicants are eligible to submit an on-line Yale Supplemental Application either before or after the submission of the AMCAS application. The Supplemental Application deadline is November 15, 2007 for M.D.-Ph.D. applicants.

Inquiries to the Yale School of Medicine regarding the degree of Doctor of Medicine should be addressed to the Office of Admissions, Yale University School of Medicine, Edward S. Harkness Hall, 367 Cedar Street, New Haven, CT 06510. The email address of the admissions office is medical.admissions@yale.edu.

A complete application consists of the following components:

  1. AMCAS application and all required components of the AMCAS application.
  2. Yale supplemental application.
  3. An evaluation from the applicant's Premedical Advisory Committee, or individual letters from three of the applicant's teachers, two of whom should be in science fields. These evaluations must be sent directly to Yale.
  4. An application fee of $85 or an AMCAS fee waiver must accompany the Yale Certification Form, which must be printed and mailed to the Office of Admissions. The application fee is not refundable.

Certification Form

Depending on the program to which they are applying, applicants must submit either the M.D. or M.D.-Ph.D. Certification Form to complete their application. The Certification Form, along with the non-refundable $85 application processing fee or AMCAS fee waiver, should be mailed to: Yale University School of Medicine / Office of Admissions / 367 Cedar Street /New Haven, CT 06510. Admission to Advanced Standing

The M.D.-Ph.D. Program at Yale School of Medicine does not regularly accept transfer students. Please contact the Director of the Program for further information.

Interviews

During the course of the admissions process, selected applicants will be invited to the School of Medicine for personal interviews with members of the Committee on Admissions. Regional interviews can be arranged when necessary.

Supplemental Application User ID and Password

Before beginning the application process, you will be prompted to create a User ID and Password. You should record your User ID and Password for future use in editing your application (prior to submission) and for on-line status checks (after submission). The Admissions Staff will not have access to either your User ID or Password.
