We help obtain materials for Yale Medical Center Affiliates owned or not owned by any of the Yale University Libraries. Materials necessary for research are made available through cooperative agreements with other libraries.
ILLiad is the electronic system you use to request an item through Interlibrary Loan. The name ILLiad can be thought of as an acronym for InterLibrary Loan internet accessible database.
Free services are extended to clinician, faculty, staff, students and researchers in the Yale Medical Center.
Non-affiliated borrowers may sign up to use our article retrieval services through Loansome Doc.
Contact the ILL staff during normal business hours.
Many libraries will not loan entire volumes of journals, fragile materials, DVDs, or high demand materials.
Plan ahead when requesting materials. The time it takes for a borrowed item to arrive depends upon the difficulty of the request and the location of the lending library. For books, it may take 2-3 weeks or longer, but typically for an article it takes 2-3 working days.
All articles will be delivered electronically to your desktop. Books must be picked up in the Interlibrary Loan office.
You will be notified by email when your item(s) arrive.
The length on an item's loan period is determined by the lending library.
Yes, but not all lending institutions will renew materials. Renewal requests must be made at least 3 days before the due date and can be made only once. All books are subject to recall. If this should happen, you will be notified either by email or telephone. Request renewal through ILLiad account or contact ILL 203-785-7653.
