PDAs for Nurses

Personal Digital Assistants or PDAs are an increasingly popular choice for health care professionals. They represent a very convenient way to store and access health care information: They are small and typically will fit in a pocket, they are inexpensive relative to a desktop or laptop computer, and can be more frequently updated than traditional reference books. The rapidly increasing use of PDAs among health care professionals has led to a great variety of applications available for PDAs that you may find of great benefit in your work. Health care reference works include drug guides that can find current information and check for drug interactions, calculators for commonly done medical equations, and clinical guidelines for conditions such as asthma and COPD. Some of these resources are free, and others are available at prices comparable to text equivalents.

This site provides links to places on the Web where you can find out more about PDAs, including the basics of how they work and places where you can buy a PDA. This site also has lists of some of the most popular and useful clinical reference resources for PDAs.
