1999 Nursing Journals and Impact Factors

This is a list (in descending order) of the top 24 nursing journals according to the Journal Citation Reports impact factor. Holdings at Yale are listed, including whether or not electronic access is available to the Yale community.

The impact factor takes into account the ratio of the number of articles published in a journal to the number of times those articles were cited. The higher the number, the larger the importance of the journal, as measured by how often its articles are cited. Of course, this is only one way of thinking about the importance of a journal.

To search for the impact factor for a particular journal, you can use the JCR database from the Institute for Scientific Information.
