Citation text Annie Warburton Goodrich, the first woman Dean in our University,
established here the first graduate professional school of nursing in the
world. She did so in the belief that a nurse must be "technically
skilled, scientifically informed, and socially experienced." When she
become Dean Emeritus in 1934 the Yale school of Nursing was
internationally famous. Today throughout the world graduates of Yale are
carrying on the spirit, the courage, and the devotion to the cause that
Dean Goodrich taught by precept and example.
