1942-1945

Lt. Col. ANC, Ester Budd, YSN '31 is Chief Nurse of the Yale Medical Unit, General Hospital No. 39.


1943

First of "war classes" admitted in the Spring.

67% of class is in the Student Reserve of the Red Cross.

1944

130 of 200 students in the School are members of the Cadet Nurse Corps.

First African-Americans admitted and fully integrated into the living arrangements and social activities of the School.

Effie Jane Taylor retires and Elizabeth Seelye Bixler, YSN '27, is named third Dean of the Yale University School of Nursing.

1946-1952

Elizabeth Seelye Bixler is President of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Nursing.
