Yale School of Nursing Print Reserve Services

The Yale Libraries continie to provide more material electronically. YSN faculty should check electronic holdings to see if course reserve material are already available online. When material is not already available electronic, scanned copies of print materials may be made. YSN faculty may elect to provide access to supplemental course materials through copies of print material.

Print Copies at YSN

YSN faculty may leave material at the YSN Reference Room for YSN students to copy.

Print Copies at Cushing/Whitney

As a back up to electronic reserves and print material in the YSN Reference Room, a faculty member may elect to leave printed material at the Circulation Desk of the Cushing/Whitney Medical Library.

Print Reserves

1. Determine if the material you wish to put on reserve is already available electronically. No print copy should be made of this material for students. Please refer to the library's list of electronic journals.
2. Check Fair Use Guidelines to be sure that your material complies with copyright law. More information is available in Understanding Copyright and Fair Use.
   
   
3. Produce the best quality photocopy possible of the desired article or book section.
   
   
4. When you make the photocopy, include the original copyright statement as it appears in the book or journal.
   
   
5. Send this photocopy along with a completed Course Reserve Request form to the Reference Room.
   
   
6. After the request is received, the library will fill your order within 10 days. The library will not accept a document if it feels that its use is not in compliance with copyright law and fair use provisions.
   
   
7. Materials will be returned to you at the end of the semester.
